Somis’ founder and President, Eric Taylor, has forty years’ experience in the development industry in California. He worked for both private and public homebuilders before starting Somis in early 2011. We have a small but dedicated staff that pays attention to the details. From initial acquisition of a property, through project approvals and finally to building the home, closing escrow and managing the homeowner’s association after occupancy, we are involved throughout the process.Land acquisition, project design and approvals and overall management of the company is done by Eric Taylor. A graduate of UC Davis, Eric has worked with the design and entitlements for thousands of residential units throughout California. His experience ranges from design and acquisition of properties to finance, construction, marketing and customer service.

Project management is handled by Joseph “Jay” Morin, a veteran of over 25 years’ in the homebuilding industry and a second generation builder in California. Jay handles purchasing, budgeting, sub-contractor management and insurance management. Meghann Percy is Somis’ assistant project manager and has been associated with the company from almost the beginning. She is a graduate of New Mexico State University. Meghann manages a bit of everything we do, especially in regards to accounts payable, contract management and coordination with suppliers and sub-contractors.
Eric Taylor founded Somis Investments in 2011 and is responsible for the firm’s investment and development activities, business development and overall management.
Mr. Taylor has more than thirty-eight years of diversified real estate experience in commercial real estate investing, development, engineering, construction, architecture, finance and asset management in the western United States. Throughout his career that began with land use planning and development and evolved into the investment facets of the business, Mr. Taylor has participated in the execution of more than $2 billion of acquisitions, dispositions, financings and advisory assignments across all commercial and residential real estate asset types, including land development and entitlement of more than 25,000 acres and 27,000 residential and multifamily units. He has directed the development of multiple, notable large-scale residential projects in Southern California, including Dos Vientos Ranch, Stevenson Ranch, Horsethief Canyon and Big Sky Ranch, and was involved in the design and development of Coto de Caza in Laguna Nigel, California and the Irvine Ranch.
Prior to founding Somis Investments, Mr. Taylor was Managing Director of the Residential Investments Group, for Kennedy Wilson, a Los Angeles-based international investment management firm, where he focused on residential acquisitions, dispositions and development opportunities in the western United States and asset management of non-performing notes. Before joining Kennedy Wilson, Mr. Taylor served as Vice President of Trimark Pacific Homes, D.R. Horton and Shea Homes, where he directed design, entitlement, engineering and land development activities. Earlier in his career, Mr. Taylor founded VTN West, an engineering and construction firm, and was a contract developer for a variety of commercial and master planned residential communities in Southern California.
Mr. Taylor received a B.A. from the University of California, Davis and is a member of Urban Land Institute.
